I thought for a minute there about getting up and turning off my air conditioner.

But it's too hot.

Air and computers on, but that's it. Any cooking tonight will be outside on the grill....

Unfortunately, the longer range plans to continue to power California's economy and homes will rely increasingly on imported liquefied natural gas. Of course, the terminals have yet to be built and the gas fields have yet to be drilled...

What we need to do is start immediately on four new nuclear reactors (in two plants), one in the northern Central Valley and one in the SE desert.

Since we've screwed our IOUs, private ownership seems unlikely due to credit problems. It pains this rock-ribbed Republican to no end, but I think the new nukes will need to be publicly owned, perhaps by the state.

See my article in Energypulse.net for more details.
